Top Wristbands Loves Glastonbudget
You ask a festival goer what the ingredients are for a perfect festival and you usually get a similar response. Acts that are remembered for their showmanship and stage presence tend to be few and far between. When you’re dancing with friends and strangers, drinking in the sunshine and generally loving life, it tends not to be what you can ‘see’ on the stage but more so what you can ‘hear’ from it. And what is it that we want to hear? The songs and anthems we know and love, because anyone who loves a festival knows that your experience is so greatly enhanced by knowing the songs of the bands you’re going to hear before you get there…
And so I bring you Glastonbudget; The UK’s premier tribute festival which has been bringing together the best in tribute acts from around the country, since 2005. Acts such as ‘Ded Hot Chili Peppers’, ‘Stereotonics’, ‘Oashish’ and ‘Coolplay’ (you get the idea) have all adorned the stage of this infamous festival which takes place each Summer in the town of Wymeswold in Leicestershire. This year, the festival ran from 24th – 26th May and acts like ‘Antarctic Monkeys’ and ‘The Fillers’ were enjoyed by around 15,000 fans, frolicking in the early summer sun.
Every year we go to Glastonbudget, each occasion more eagerly anticipated than the last. Primarily because you know that you are guaranteed quality music over the course of the weekend. But also because there is a whole array of ‘off stage’ cultural delights to indulge in.
The beer tent at Glastonbudget is something to be marvelled at. Since the festivals inauguration, local beers and fine regional ales have frequently been the lifeblood which has fuelled the festival. The cuisine available is just as diverse. Hog Roast, Caribbean, Mexican, Curry and Seafood stalls all ready to serve up the culinary treats to satisfy your senses.
It’s not just the tribute acts either, a plethora of new and upcoming musicians comprise the total number of acts on show across the various stages. Glastonbudget gives new acts a fantastic platform to showcase their talents to the size of crowd which would usually only be enjoyed by the biggest of bands.
Since 2010, Glastonbudget has utilised its success to include a philanthropic venture with Leicester based charity, LOROS. A venture which has raised over £30,000 for the charity. In return, LOROS brings with them an eclectic mix of fancy dress items for festival goers to get involved with. Something which is definitely amiss from some of the bigger festivals around the UK!
All for £80 for the entire weekend! It’s safe to say that Glastonbudget has truly embedded itself into the UK music scene and if you ever get a chance, then make sure to pay homage to this one of a kind festival as it truly is inspiring.
